Yu wan-Ju (Karen) is a Taiwanese politician currently serving as a legislator. She was nominated by the DPP (Democratic Progressive Party) to be a candidate in the 2016 legislative election and was elected as a legislator-at-large-seat.
Legislator Yu is assigned to the Finance Committee, speaks up for startups, young entrepreneurs and social enterprises in Taiwan, and she focuses on the development of Taiwan’s Social Enterprise and Digital startups. On Oct 11th, she will share us her experiences and observations regarding future transformation of Taiwan.
余宛如台大經濟系畢業後任國會助理，開始燃起她對社會議題的關注，開始以行動改變社會。曾擔任國際知名有機保養品牌行銷經理，相信環保與經濟發展應該並重。2008年，一頭栽進國際公平貿易運動，創辦台灣第一家公平貿易認證商生態綠、持續倡議食物正義與倫理消費，並於 2010 年進一步到倫敦研究全球糧食產銷議題，並於 2015 年協助台灣經濟部中小企業處營運台灣第一個社會企業聚落，培育與孵化社會企業。
目前，余宛如立法委員擔任立法院數位經濟與社會經濟國會交流促進會會長，以及立法院數位國家促進會會長，推動金融監理沙盒、政府資訊長組織法、產業創新條例、社會企業發展條例等法規，在國會繼續為打造更好的台灣新創生態系努力，並為青年發聲，關注台灣社會企業與數位新創的發展。
